CIVIC ENGAGEMENT & PUBLIC ART

Hear Our Voices

Hear Our Voices is a public art project for an urban plaza in a mixed use neighborhood dominated by the auto retail industry. The artwork addresses both the plaza's commercial civic context as well as gives voice to area residents. Paving design suggests circulation flow for the plaza, and six banner-shaped sculptures that also serve as seating "voice" community wishes for the only open space in their neighborhood.

Tone-on-tone concrete, mosaic, concrete pavers. Commissioned by the City of Oakland Arts & Cultural Marketing Division. Broadway Auto Row in Oakland, CA.
