Aging In America is a civic intervention project with frail seniors from an adult day health center in San Francisco. Through a series of workshops, the seniors discussed their experiences of aging and created picket signs with personal statements about the positive as well as negative aspects of aging. They also wrote a collaborative poem based on these statements, and worked with a performance coach to prepare a planned demonstration with their picket signs at City Hall to protest proposed cuts in senior services. Last minute institutional management cancellation of transportation for the seniors to the planned event prevented it from taking place. The seniors held a performance-demonstration at the adult day health center.
